History Happy Hour: Hearthstone and the Invention of Green Energy
Tuesday September 29th, 5:00-6:30 pm| 1889 Courthouse|$45 ticket
On September 30, 1882, the world changed. It changed in a profound and important way.
On that night, because of its builders, the Rogers family, Hearthstone became the
center of a pivotal moment in history, creating arguably one of the most profound
impacts in how we have lived our lives from that moment forward. It saw the dawn of modern home electrification.
It also saw the birthplace of green energy, perhaps the most important idea that our world will need over the next few generations.

To mark the 144th anniversary of the lighting of Hearthstone, join George Schroeder, Executive Director of Hearthstone Historic Home Museum, as he brings that moment to life through a rich slideshow and describes how Hearthstone became a house of the future, not only with electricity but also with a host of other new technologies that still impact our lives today.
As importantly, Hearthstone serves as a lens through which many of the trends that create modern America come into focus: Industrialization, urbanization, technological advancement, immigration, discrimination, women’s rights, and more.
Enjoy delicious appetizers by Grun Hexe Kitchen and cocktails (Included with your ticket.)
